Winemaker Tamás Riczu started his own winery after working for several years as the head winemaker for some other prestigious estates in Villány. His brand quickly gained a following, and became well-known as a winery which produced reliably excellent wines. It has won prizes both in local and international competitions . Riczu farms his vineyards organically, harvests by hand, and uses no products or animal-origin during vinification (so his wines are vegan). This wine is a Bordeaux-style blend of 60 percent Cabernet Sauvignon, 25 percent Merlot, and 15 percent Cabernet Franc. The wine spent 20 months aging in new Hungarian and French oak barrels on it lees, with frequent Battonage (lees stirring). This is a complex, intense, and round red wine style, with aromas of cassis, tobacco, leather, mocha, and blueberries. This age-worthy wine (14.5 percent alcohol) will benefit from decanting, a steak, and good company.
