Terroir Selection Kővágó Furmint – Grand Tokaj
We believe that single-vineyard selection dry Furmint is one of the most exciting representations of the varietal. Naturally, it was love at first sip for us with this Furmint hailing from the Kővágó vineyard. This south-facing slope consists of andesite and rhyolite tuff, so the region’s typical volcanic minerality is something that really stands out in its wines.
The medium lemon color already hints at the intensity and seriousness of this Furmint. Concentrated, complex aromas of pear, rhubarb, lime, and saline jump right out of the glass. The body and structure are substantial, and hints of vanilla and cedar are fully present from barrel aging. The palate is zippy and lively, with notes of quince, lemon rind, and ginger, as well as some saltiness on the long finish. This Furmint is layered, harmonious, and definitely ageable for several more years. However, that shouldn’t stop you from enjoying it right now. It pairs wonderfully with lemony seafood pasta, grilled fish, or herb-crusted chicken.
