The cold-climate-loving Pinot Noir is one of the very few red grapes planted in the Etyek region, due to its overall colder climate. The Hernyák family puts a lot of effort and love into their Pinot Noir vineyards, which they use for both red wine and sparkling wine production. The Etyek region produces, arguably, some of the best examples of this variety in the country. Even though Pinot Noir is planted in several places around the world, it only feels at home in very few of them. It is a sensitive variety and, if not grown by a knowledgeable winemaker in a cold-climate area, can produce bland, heavily alcoholic, and overall uncharming wines. This is the only red wine which Hernyák produces. This Pinot is full of bright, crunchy, fruity flavors such as ripe strawberries and raspberries. There are gorgeous dark chocolate aromas coming from the nine months of barrel aging. The wine is, at the same time, soft and complex; silky and ripe. Enjoy it with duck dishes, mushrooms, or rye bread toast with truffle butter.
