The St. Andrea Winery in Eger makes many wines which have become icons in Hungary. This Merengő Grand Superior Bikavér is perhaps their most wine. Owner / winemaker Dr. György Lőrincz has produced Merengő for 17 vintages. It’s a blend of Kékfrankos, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Syrah, and Pinot Noir. This wine was aged for 17 months in small oak barrels. It has aromas of blackberries, mulberries, and ripe. It’s a very smooth wine, with a long finish and flavors of minerals, black berries, and oak ageing. St. Andrea makes this blend from their best barrels every year.
