Somlói Vándor and winemaker Tamás Kis own the only plot of the Kabar variety on the Somló hill. It is a small half-hectare plot which was planted as an experiment in the 1960s to determine if the variety, which is from the Tokaj region, can also get botrytis and produce sweet wines in Somló. This dry wine has a strong minerality and intensity of flavors, with almost an umami feeling on the palate. It has flavors of ripe tropical fruits and grilled vegetables. It’s a very unique wine, from one of Hungary’s most unique regions.
