The Rejiji Winery was founded in 2012 by a Finnish-Hungarian couple, who decided to follow their passion for wine. They acquired a few premium vineyards in Villány—the Kopár and the Tenkes—and now produce around 10,000 bottles of premium wine a year. In 2016 Rejiji transitioned to organically farming its vineyards. This wine is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (60 percent, from the Tenkes vineyard) and Merlot (40 percent, from the Kopár vineyard). It was fermented in stainless steel tanks, and then aged in Hungarian oak barrels for 18 months. It is rare to find commercially available wines from the 2015 vintage, so we are really glad to be able to offer you an aged-wine experience. This is a medium-bodied wine, with elegant acidity and tannins. It has lovely fruity aromas, with light barrel notes in the nose. This is both a complex and an uncomplicated red, that can be extremely food friendly and can go well with most meat-based dishes, mushroom dishes, and stews.
