Description
The Rejiji Winery was founded in 2012 by a Finnish-Hungarian couple, who decided to follow their passion for wine. They acquired a few premium vineyards in Villány—the Kopár and the Tenkes—and now produce around 10,000 bottles of premium wine a year. In 2016 Rejiji transitioned to organically farming its vineyards. This cuvée is made of Cabernet Sauvignon (50 percent), Merlot (25 percent), and Cabernet Franc (25 percent). It’s a full-bodied, elegant wine with high aging potential. It was aged for 18 months in small Hungarian oak barrels. There are hints of cranberry, bramble, and smooth vanilla aromas. The aromas from the barrel-ageing, combined with the spiciness and the mature tannins create a complex and elegant body. If you decant this wine, you’ll be rewarded with aromas of dark fruits, strawberries, and coffee. It has a long, smooth aftertaste. If you have the patience, this wine gets better after it sits in the glass for awhile. In 2020, this wine was listed in Hungary’s annual “100 Best Wines of Hungary.”
